Pheasant Ridge Project

This home underwent a pretty dramatic makeover. It was built in the 90’s and hadn’t had any changes since. Multiple types of flooring in the main living area created a disjointed feeling. Dark, unfinished cement walls, made the home feel cold and dreary. You won’t believe the difference some fresh paint can make! The grounds of this home are breathtaking with remarkable mountain and ocean views. The goal was to enjoy them from every room. Keep scrolling to see this amazing transformation.

Kitchen

The changes to the floor plan were minimal, but had a huge impact. We took out a couple of walls that partitioned the kitchen from the rest of the living area to reveal one airy, bright open space.
Our home owner wanted the kitchen to feel minimal and clean so we chose painted white cabinetry with sleek black hardware and of course paneled appliances for that seamless look. We opted for a brass fixture to tie in other brass elements throughout the room. The entire room was done in white oak flooring to add some warmth and the natural texture we love. The unique sized dining area gave us the idea to create a custom square table to make the most of the space. It ended up being one of my favorite things in the house! It’s paired with leather chairs to bring in more texture and warm, neutral colors.

Living

The star here is the view. We wanted to keep it that way with minimal window treatments, opting for soft white linen drapery. What you can’t see are the automatic solar shades that lower with the push of a button to filter out the harsh afternoon sun. Beautiful and functional. We brought in one-of-a kind vintage rugs and the chicest vintage French chairs reupholstered in mohair fabric. The decor pulls from the surrounding colors in nature to tie it all together.

Primary Room

This primary bedroom had overly saturated yellow walls that didn’t allow the garden view and natural morning light to do its thing. This room was to feel zen and like an oasis to relax and unwind. It’s light, it’s bright, and the bed is layered with soft cloud, like linen. I can’t imagine anything better.

Primary Bath

Before this room felt cramped and dark. We opted to forgo a bathtub in order to open up this space. Luckily our client prefers showers and loved this idea. The hand made tiles in the shower bring in organic texture while the brass fixtures add the warmth we crave to balance all the brightness. Custom white oak cabinetry provides necessary storage. Again, the garden view is the star of the show.

Guest Bed + Bath

This room is fairly small and the odd angles created a little bit of a challenge for furnishing. However, the large windows give it an open feel. We wanted to balance all the light by adding in some darker grays and greens with the vintage rug and linen bedding. This also ties in nicely with the black bathroom. The black Japanese soaking tub and custom, dyed black concrete vanity offer a grounding contrast to the space.

Lanai

Before this lanai had a gorgeous view but it lacked any shade. The addition of a pergola created some necessary protection from the sun and allows for a nice seating area to enjoy the surroundings. The dark exterior creates contrast with the light airy interiors as well as with the surrounding greenery. What you can’t see are the natural lava rock features on the property which tie in with the exterior choice perfectly. What better place to enjoy a sunset cocktail?!

Laundry + Mudroom

This combined room is really all about function. Well planned storage allows for easy organization and access to the essentials for getting out the door. The concrete floor tiles are durable and able to withstand muddy feet coming in from the surrounding garden with fresh fruit and blooms in hand.
